Year 4 Students Showcase HPL Skills with Biscuit-Making Project

Year 4 students at Burtonwood Community Primary School recently completed a project in their Design Technology (DT) lesson, demonstrating a range of High-Performance Learning (HPL) skills. The project revolved around creating and marketing their own biscuits, incorporating key values such as respect and preparedness.

The hands-on experience began with a taste-testing session, where students sampled various types of biscuits to inspire their own creations. This activity not only engaged their senses but also prompted them to collaborate, share opinions, and explore different perspectives.

With a range of ideas generated, the class started crafting their own biscuits.  Pupils showed remarkable imagination and fluent thinking as they decided on flavours, shapes, and decorative elements for their biscuits.

One of the key components of the project was creating a budget. Pupils had to determine the costs of their ingredients and create their own original packaging.

Throughout the project, the children exhibited the HPL values of respect and preparedness.

Well done Year 4!
