Year 4 Art - Creating Effects with Paint
Year 4 Explore Painting Techniques with Precision and Creativity
Year 4 pupils have been diving into the world of art, exploring a variety of painting techniques to create different effects using an array of materials. During their recent lesson, they practiced dabbing, stippling, pointillism, sponging, and spreading paint with tools like cotton buds, lolly sticks, sponges, paintbrushes—and even their fingers!
This hands-on experience allowed the pupils to experiment with texture while developing their artistic skills. They discovered how different tools and techniques produce unique textures and patterns on their paper. Throughout the activity, they embraced the High-Performance Learning (HPL) value of precision, focusing on accuracy and attention to detail as they explored how each method transformed their work. This emphasis on precision, combined with their willingness to try new methods, helped them gain a deeper understanding of how artists achieve different effects in their work.
Art lessons like these not only allow pupils to refine their technical skills but also encourage them to think outside the box and appreciate the possibilities of creative expression.
Well done, Year 4. Keep up the fantastic work!
