Student Leadership
HPL Ambassadors
Our HPL Ambassadors play a vital role in promoting High Performance Learning (HPL) across the school. Two children from each class take on various tasks, including identifying and sharing examples of HPL in action. They actively look for classmates demonstrating key Advanced Cognitive Performance (ACP) skills and Values, Attitudes, and Attributes (VAAs), reporting their observations to teachers. Additionally, they take initiative in organising fundraising events that align with HPL principles, such as concern for society and collaboration, fostering a positive and engaged school community.
School Council
Our School Council members serve as the voice of the children, ensuring that every pupil has a say in decisions that affect school life. They represent their classmates by sharing ideas, concerns, and suggestions in meetings and then relay important messages back to their peers. Their role influences key areas such as lunchtime arrangements, school activities, and after-school opportunities, helping to shape a positive and inclusive environment for all. By working together, they play a crucial part in making improvements across the school, ensuring that every child's voice is heard and valued.
Eco Council
Our Eco Council is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness across the school. Representing their classmates, members take an active role in discussing and implementing eco-friendly initiatives, such as recycling, reducing waste, and conserving energy. They help educate and inspire others by sharing important messages about caring for the environment and encouraging positive changes in daily school life. Our Forest School program also plays a key role, giving children hands-on experiences in nature and reinforcing the importance of protecting our natural world. Through their efforts, the Eco Council helps make our school a greener, more sustainable place for everyone.

Year 5 Library Monitors
At Burtonwood Primary School, our Year 5 Library Monitors help create a calm and welcoming environment during lunchtimes.
They support both our indoor and outdoor libraries, giving pupils the opportunity to enjoy a quiet space to read, relax, and explore books.
Our monitors help younger students find books, keep the library organised, and encourage a love of reading throughout the school. Their dedication ensures that everyone can enjoy a peaceful and enriching lunch time.
