World Book Day 2025
A Fun-Filled World Book Day 2025
World Book Day was a huge success at our school, with both children and staff making a fantastic effort to dress up as their favourite book characters. The classrooms were alive with creativity, as pupils embraced the magic of stories through their costumes. A special highlight was seeing most of the teachers dressed as ‘Where’s Wally?’.
But the celebrations didn’t stop there. We have been embracing the love of reading with a range of exciting activities over the past week.
- Read Around School Challenge – Each day, children have been choosing different places to read within school. Those who fill their reading card will be entered into a class raffle, with two lucky winners per class receiving a brand-new book.
- Altru Drama’s Performance of Rumpelstiltskin – The whole school enjoyed a live performance of Rumpelstiltskin, bringing this classic fairy tale to life in an engaging and interactive way.
- Year 5 and Year 6 Watch Macbeth – Year 5 and 6 pupils visited St Paul of the Cross School to watch a performance of Macbeth, giving them a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of Shakespeare.
- Guess the Book Emoji Competition – A fun challenge was sent out on Seesaw, where students used emojis to guess the book titles. All entries were entered into a prize draw.
- Burty Bar Golden Ticket Raffle – The PTFA ran a chocolate bar raffle where children could buy a chocolate bar for £1.50. Some lucky bars contained a Golden Ticket, leading to extra-special prizes. All funds raised will help provide resources and experiences for the school.
From performances to competitions and reading challenges, our school has been celebrating the joy of books in so many ways.
A huge well done to all the children and staff for their enthusiasm and participation!
