Year 1 and 2 Road Safety 2025
Year 1 and 2 Learn All About Road Safety
A representative of Warrington Borough Council came into school to teach the children all about road safety and how to keep themselves safe when out and about.
The session began with an informative PowerPoint presentation, which covered a wide range of important safety messages. The children learned all about the Green Cross Code, and were reminded to stop, look, listen, and think before crossing any road. The presentation also introduced them to the different types of pedestrian crossings, including zebra, puffin, and toucan crossings, and the rules that should be followed when using each one.
The children discussed the importance of being seen, especially when it’s dark outside. They learned how wearing bright or reflective clothing can help drivers spot them more easily, and why it’s important to stay alert near roads at all times.
The session also covered the different types of traffic we might come across — including cars, buses, bikes and lorries — and helped the children understand where traffic belongs and where people should walk, such as on pavements and using safe crossing points.
A big thank you to our visitor from Warrington Borough Council for delivering such an important session. The children came away with lots of valuable knowledge and tips to help keep themselves safe when near roads.
