Transition Morning Brings Excitement for the Year Ahead

There was a real buzz of excitement around school this week as children took part in Transition Day, a chance to spend time with their new teachers and get a feel for their new classrooms ahead of the next academic year.

Year 6 pupils were offsite for the day, attending their High School transition visits. They had the opportunity to explore their new schools, meet some of the staff and other pupils, and take part in a variety of lessons and activities to help them feel more prepared for September.

Meanwhile, the rest of the children enjoyed a relaxed and positive morning settling into their new classes:

  • The new Year 1 children explored their new classroom space and took part in a range of play-based activities to help them feel comfortable in their new classroom.
  • Year 2 played a fun guessing game where each child wrote facts about themselves, and their classmates tried to guess who the clues were about.
  • Year 3 had to choose three objects that they would put in a bag to represent themselves, encouraging everyone to think about what makes them unique.
  • Year 4 got creative with an art session, painting to bring some colour to the classroom.
  • Year 5 enjoyed a game of ‘Two Truths and a Lie,’ sharing interesting facts while trying to keep their classmates guessing.
  • Year 6 created ‘character swirls’—artwork filled with words that described their personalities and strengths.

The morning was all about helping the children feel at ease, get to know their new teachers, and enjoy some fun activities in a new setting. It was lovely to see so many smiles and positive interactions throughout the school.

Thank you to all the staff for helping to make the day run smoothly, and well done to the children for embracing the experience so positively.
