Year 2 Christmas Journey Church Visit 2025
Year 2 Christmas Journey Church Visit
This morning, Year 2 pupils enjoyed a festive visit to All Saints Church in Newton-le-Willows, taking part in a magical Christmas story experience. The trip combined interactive storytelling, creative crafts, and seasonal treats.
The class was divided into two groups to make the most of the activities. While one group explored the Christmas story through the immersive journey, the other created envelope nativity scenes, carefully colouring in the characters. After enjoying juice and biscuits, the groups swapped activities.
The journey began with the story of the creation of the earth, followed by the angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary, who was baking bread, which the children were able to taste themselves. Pupils then stepped into the role of shepherds, re-enacting their watch over the sheep at night.
The adventure continued across an imaginary river to a puppet show, telling the nativity story from the perspective of the stable animals. The children then learned about the three kings before finishing with a retelling of how the birth of Jesus brought hope and joy to the world.
Year 2 pupils behaved superbly throughout the visit, making it a memorable and educational experience that perfectly captured the spirit of the festive season.
Well done, Year 2!
