Year 2 Art - Exploring Colour Mixing

Year 2 have been getting creative in art lessons by learning all about colour mixing. The children started with the three primary colours, red, blue, and yellow, and discovered how these can be combined to make secondary colours like green, orange, and purple.

They experimented with different amounts of paint to see how shades and tones change, creating lighter and darker versions of each colour. This hands-on activity helped them understand how artists use colour to express mood and bring their work to life.

The class really enjoyed exploring the process and produced some fantastic colour charts and blended backgrounds. It’s been a brilliant way to develop their painting skills and confidence with using colour creatively.

Well done Year 2!
