Year 2 DT - Completed Chair Designs for Baby Bear

After planning and investigating what makes a chair strong, sturdy, and comfortable, just before the holidays, Year 2 completed their exciting DT project: creating a chair for Baby Bear. Using paper, card, and plenty of tape, the children worked hard to turn their ideas into real models.

Each chair was carefully constructed with features they had learned about during their research, such as strong legs, supportive backs, and a stable base. The designs were creative and unique, with some chairs having tall backs and others with wide seats.

Once the chairs were finished, it was time for the big test. Instead of Baby Bear, the children used an elf and a teddy to check if their chairs were strong enough to hold a weight. Some designs held up perfectly, while others needed a little extra support. It was a great opportunity to learn about improving and adapting ideas.

This project has helped Year 2 develop important skills in planning, building, and problem-solving, all while having fun and being creative.

Well done Year 2 for producing such fantastic designs and showing brilliant teamwork!
