Art Morning - 29th January 2026
Last week, pupils across the school took part in a special Art Morning, bringing the classrooms to life with creativity, colour and imagination. Every year group worked on a different artistic project, giving children the opportunity to explore a wide range of materials, techniques and ideas, while contributing towards work that will eventually support our whole-school PAN theme.
Year 1 pupils created a vibrant 3D 'Tree of Life'. Children carefully built up the structure of their tree before adding a variety of insects and animals. By working in 3D, pupils explored shape, texture and form, producing an imaginative piece that reflected their growing confidence with folding and making shapes.
In Year 2, pupils focused on collage, creating wartime scene artwork using a range of materials and colours. Children were encouraged to tear and layer small pieces carefully, allowing them to create subtle changes in shade and texture. This approach helped pupils understand how artists can use colour and material choices to create atmosphere and depth within an image.
Year 3 pupils worked on constructing 3D aeroplanes for the PAN display. Using a range of resources, children explored structure and balance while thinking about proportion and detail.
Year 4 explored mark-making by experimenting with a variety of tools, including cotton buds, cotton wool, glue spreaders and paintbrushes. Pupils used these techniques to create fruit images with a 3D appearance, carefully considering highlights, shadows and texture. This work will later be developed further as part of the PAN project.
Year 5 pupils focused on artwork inspired by the history of Burtonwood Airbase. Through research and exploration, children developed bold and thoughtful pieces using printing and drawing techniques. Their work demonstrated careful attention to detail and a strong understanding of how art can be used to communicate ideas linked to local history.
The Art Morning was a great opportunity for pupils to express themselves creatively, develop new skills and take pride in their work. The variety of projects showcased the progression of artistic skills across the school and highlighted the enthusiasm and focus shown by all children involved.
We look forward to sharing how these pieces will be brought together as part of our ongoing PAN work.
The artwork will be proudly displayed at Warrington Golden Square between 29th March and 22nd April 2026, alongside work from 58 other primary schools across Warrington, celebrating creativity from children across the borough.
