Year 1 Trip to Blue Planet Aquarium 2026

Year 1 Explores the Wonders of Blue Planet Aquarium
Year 1 had an amazing day at Blue Planet Aquarium, exploring the fascinating worlds of oceans, rivers, and rainforest habitats. The children spent the day learning about a wide range of animals and discovering how they live, feed, and survive in their unique environments.
Pupils took part in several interactive classroom sessions, including What Lives in Water, Ocean Art, Colour and Camouflage, and Creepy Crawlies. They learned how animals use colour and patterns to hide from predators, explored the homes of different marine life, and discovered which materials can be used to make objects like toys and tools.
Throughout the day, the children encountered a variety of incredible creatures. They saw pelicans up close and learned how they use their huge beaks to catch food, discovered colourful and unusual frogs from around the world, and marvelled at octopuses, sharks, and rays in the large tanks. The vibrant coral displays and rainforest exhibits provided lots of opportunities for hands-on learning and asking questions.
One of the highlights of the day was watching the divers in the main tank, feeding the larger marine animals while explaining fascinating facts about their behaviour. The children were excited to see sharks and rays swimming gracefully around them. They also had time to explore other areas of the aquarium, Lake Malawi fish, and other unique marine life.
The trip was not only fun but also helped pupils understand habitats, food chains, and the diversity of life under the sea.
A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the trip memorable for everyone.
