Burtonwood Pupils Honour Local History Through Powerful PAN Artwork Display

We are incredibly proud to share that our school’s PAN artwork is now on public display at Warrington Golden Square, where it stands alongside creations from 62 other schools across the area. Visitors can find Burtonwood’s striking piece located near Pandora.

This project holds particular significance for our school community. As a village with deep historical ties to the Burtonwood Airbase, the children were inspired to reflect on the legacy of those who served during the war. Using the powerful quote, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few,” pupils explored themes of remembrance, gratitude, and sacrifice through their artwork.

Children from across the school contributed to the piece, working collaboratively and creatively to bring this meaningful vision to life. Their efforts have resulted in a thoughtful and visually impactful display that truly captures the importance of remembering our local and national history.

The project was led by Mrs N. Hughes, whose passion and dedication ensured its success from beginning to end. We would also like to extend our thanks to Mrs Hutton and Miss Harvey for their invaluable support in preparing and presenting the final piece, as well as to all teaching staff who played a role in guiding and supporting the children throughout the process.

We are especially grateful to the Burtonwood sewing group for their generosity in donating materials and assisting with the creation of the background and sewn elements. A heartfelt thank you goes to Anne, whose time, care, and commitment made a significant difference to the finished artwork.

The display will remain at Golden Square until Monday 20th April. We warmly encourage families and members of the community to visit, view the exhibition, and celebrate the creativity and hard work of our pupils.
