Year 5 History – Viking Trading

Year 5 have been stepping back in time to explore what life was like in a Viking marketplace. As part of their learning about Viking trade, the children recreated the city of Jorvik and took part in their very own Viking marketplace.

The children were given different Viking jobs and had to work together to collect a range of items needed for their settlements. They experienced what it might have been like to trade and barter for goods, while learning about the different products and materials that would have been available during Viking times.

It was a fantastic hands-on experience, with the children fully embracing their Viking roles and developing their understanding of how important trade and marketplaces were to Viking communities.
