Student safety at Burtonwood Community Primary School has received a significant boost thanks to the diligent efforts of two Year 5 students.
Evie and Billy, have taken on the roles of Junior Safety Officers and teamed up with Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Spruce to monitor and patrol the school's vicinity during the morning to ensure people are parking correctly and to enhance overall safety.
Evie and Billy recently delivered an assembly on pedestrian safety to the entire school. The session aimed to raise awareness about the importance of safe walking habits and the potential risks near roads.
The initiative taken by Evie and Billy, in collaboration with PCSO Spruce, has been met with widespread appreciation from the school's faculty, students, and parents alike. Their dedication and proactive approach in promoting safety demonstrate the valuable contributions young individuals can make in ensuring the well-being of their community.
Speaking about the initiative, Acting Headteacher Sarah Ignatius said: "Evie and Billy have shown remarkable maturity and leadership by taking on the role of Junior Safety Officers.
