Year 3 Brings Ancient Rome to Life in their 'Romans' Showcase Assembly

Year 3 students at Burtonwood Community Primary School transported parents, carers, and fellow students back in time with their captivating 'Romans' showcase assembly. The event, held before the half-term break, was the culmination of an immersive learning experience that began with a trip to The Dewa Roman Centre in Chester.

The visit to The Dewa Roman Centre offered Year 3 a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of ancient Romans, exploring the vibrant world of Rome from 2,000 years ago. The students toured the historic Chester Amphitheatre, where gladiators once fought, and within the museum explored the Roman Baths, markets, homes, and communal toilets.

Back at school, the students incorporated their newfound knowledge into an engaging and educational assembly. The highlight was a re-enactment of Roman battle formations, which they had practiced during their visit to The Dewa Roman Centre.

Throughout the assembly, the students shared stories and insights from their trip.  They also showed remarkable resilience and poise despite some unexpected technical issues that disrupted the planned back-up music for their Roman numerals song, earning them massive applause.  The song, designed to teach Roman numerals in a fun and engaging way, was a hit with the audience.

Parents and carers were invited to stay after the assembly to view the students' work.

Well done to Year 3!
