Burtonwood Community Primary School Enjoys a Thrilling Sports Day!
After a weather-related delay, Burtonwood Community Primary School successfully held its 2024 sports day and football tournament on Thursday 6th of June.
The day was divided into two sessions, with Key Stage 2 students kicking off the activities in the morning. The young athletes showcased their skills in a variety of events, including the standing long jump, sack race, obstacle course, and sprint running race. The competitive spirit was unmistakeable as the children gave their all, thoroughly enjoying the friendly rivalry and the chance to display their athletic prowess.
In the afternoon, it was the turn of Key Stage 1 students to take to the field. They participated in the same events as KS2, with the addition of the quoit throw. The younger students displayed enthusiasm and determination, making the most of the sunny weather and the supportive cheers from the crowd.
Parents and carers gathered to watch the events, their presence adding to the atmosphere of the day. The support from the community was evident, with everyone coming together to celebrate the children’s achievements and encourage their participation.
Following on from sports day, the PTFA organised a football tournament, which added an extra layer of excitement to the day. To make it fair to everyone, there were both competitive matches and "Just for Fun" games, ensuring all children could participate in a way that suited them. An inflatable pitch, provided by Freedom Football, allowed children to pay for a chance to play on it. Additionally, a "Beat the Goalie" game was a hit, drawing enthusiastic participation from students eager to test their skills. Thank you to the PTFA for volunteering their time to organise the event. Their dedication and effort were instrumental in making the event a success.
Overall, the whole day was a tremendous success, filled with laughter, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Burtonwood Community Primary School’s sports day not only highlighted the athletic talents of its students but also reinforced the strong sense of community and support within the school.
Well done to everyone involved!
