Year 5 DT Sewing Project with Community Support
Year 5 pupils had the privilege of working with four dedicated volunteers from the Burtonwood Sewing Group to complete a hands-on Design and Technology (DT) sewing project. The collaborative effort resulted in a productive and enjoyable day for all involved.
Pupils designed their own bunting. The project was a comprehensive learning experience, starting with the basics of sewing. Pupils learned how to sew on a button and mastered the blanket stitch using various recycled materials.
Taking their skills to the next level, the students had the opportunity to use sewing machines to combine their designs together. This experience not only enhanced their sewing abilities but also boosted their confidence in using more advanced equipment.
The collaborative effort culminated in a day filled with creativity, learning, and fun. The Year 5 pupils expressed immense gratitude to the ladies from the Burtonwood Sewing Group for their time, resources, and invaluable expertise.
Well done Year 5!
