Year 1 Pupils from Burtonwood Community Primary School Enjoy Buzzing Visit from The Bee Centre

Year 1 pupils were buzzing with excitement after a special visit from The Bee Centre near Chorley. The interactive visit, which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of bees, included engaging talks and hands-on demonstrations from Ethan, the friendly beekeeper.

During the session, the children had the unique opportunity to observe bees up close through a specially designed indoor hive. They also got to sample different varieties of honey, compare their flavours, and even touch a real honeycomb.

Each pupil received a sweet treat—a goody bag containing a jar of honey and a honey stirrer. The visit wasn’t just a treat for Year 1 students; members of the school's Eco Club were also invited to join in, deepening their understanding of environmental sustainability and the role bees play in our ecosystem.

Teachers praised the pupils for sitting beautifully throughout the session and showing a keen interest in learning about bees and honey. The visit from The Bee Centre was both educational and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on the young learners.  Well done to all involved!
