Year 1 Visit to St Michael's All Angels Church

Year 1 recently visited St Michael's All Angels Church in Burtonwood to explore the Christian worldview and deepen their understanding of the nativity story. The visit began with a warm welcome from the church staff, who guided the children through the key features of the church.

During their visit, the children looked closely at symbols central to Christianity, such as crosses, candles, and Bibles, counting how many they could find and discussing their significance. This activity helped them understand how these elements represent key aspects of the Christian worldview and the importance of Jesus as a central figure in the faith.

The visit also focused on the nativity story, highlighting its role in the celebration of Christmas and the significance of Jesus' birth in Christianity. The children searched for pictures placed on the church window ledges that represented different parts of the story.  Once the pictures were located, a group of children were chosen to hold them up in sequence, narrating the events of the nativity.

The children also demonstrated the HPL value of being open-minded as they engaged with learning about the practices and traditions of Christianity.

The children displayed fantastic behaviour and it was a delightful experience that combined learning, discovery, and respect for cultural traditions.

Well done Year 1 for showing respect and listening beautifully!
