Year 2 Pupils Christmas Journey

This morning, Year 2 pupils from Burtonwood Community Primary School visited All Saints Church in Newton-le-Willows for a magical Christmas story journey. The visit combined interactive storytelling, crafts, and festive treats.

The class was split into two groups to begin their adventure. While one group embarked on the Christmas story journey, the other created an envelope nativity scene, carefully colouring in the characters. The children enjoyed juice and biscuits before swapping activities.

The storytelling journey began with the tale of how the earth was created. The children then witnessed the angel Gabriel visiting Mary as she baked bread, even getting a taste of the freshly baked treat themselves. Next, they stepped into the shepherds’ shoes, re-enacting their night watching over the sheep.

Crossing an imaginary river, the pupils were treated to a puppet show, which told the nativity story from the perspective of the animals in the stable. The children continued their journey to learn about the three kings before concluding with a retelling of how Jesus’s birth brought hope and goodness to the world.

Year 2 pupils behaved beautifully.  It was a memorable and educational experience for all, setting the tone for a joyful Christmas season.

Well done Year 2!
