Year 5 Pupils Compose Digital Soundtracks Using Scratch

In Computing Year 5 pupils have been using the 'music' section on Scratch, a popular block-based coding platform, to successfully build their own unique soundtracks to accompany a variety of images.

This project not only allowed students to dive into the world of digital music creation but also honed their coding skills as they explored how different sounds can enhance visual storytelling. By selecting and sequencing musical elements, they created soundscapes that brought their chosen images to life, demonstrating an impressive understanding of both artistic and technical aspects of the task.

Pupils showcased their ability to think creatively and adapt their approaches as they encountered new challenges in coding.  They used the HPL value of flexible thinking. This flexibility was evident as they experimented with different sound combinations and adjusted their code to achieve the desired effect.

We look forward to seeing how these budding coders will continue to develop their skills.

Well done Year 5!
