Science Week – Change and Adapt - Reception

Science Week – Change and Adapt - Reception
This year’s Science Week was a fantastic opportunity for our Reception pupils to explore the theme "Change and Adapt." Through a range of exciting activities, the children discovered how living things adjust to their environments and how nature constantly evolves.
Reception class took part in a PE lesson with an under-the-sea theme, using yoga to explore how different marine creatures adapt to their surroundings. This engaging session combined movement with science, helping the children understand the importance of flexibility—not just in yoga, but in nature too.
The children have also been observing the changes in the seasons as we transition from winter to spring. They enjoyed spotting signs of new growth and discussing how plants and animals respond to changes in weather and daylight.
Another exciting activity focused on vegetables and regrowth. Pupils explored how leftover parts of vegetables can be reused to sprout edible leaves, reinforcing the idea of sustainability and the natural cycle of growth and change.
Science Week was a wonderful way to inspire curiosity, encourage hands-on learning, and develop an appreciation for the world around us. Well done Reception!
