Year 1 Celebrate Science Week

Exciting Activities During Science Week
This week, our Year 1 pupils took part in a range of hands-on activities to celebrate Science Week, exploring different scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Making Fossils
They became palaeontologists as they learned all about fossils and how they are formed. They had the opportunity to examine real fossils, discussing their textures, patterns, and possible origins. To bring their learning to life, they created their own salt dough fossils, demonstrating creativity and curiosity throughout the process.
Taste Testing
As part of our exploration of the senses, pupils put their taste buds to the test by trying a variety of new and different foods. Some were initially nervous, but they showed great courage in giving it a go. Many were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed the different flavours, making it a fantastic sensory experience for all.
Goalball in PE
Year 1 also had the opportunity to play Goalball during PE this week. This inclusive sport helped students understand how our senses adapt when one is taken away. With their vision restricted, they had to rely on their hearing to track the ball. The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and gained a new appreciation for how important all our senses are.
Science Week has been an exciting and enriching experience, and we are so proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and willingness to explore new ideas. Well done, everyone!
