Year 1 Trip to Kenyon Hall Farm
Year 1 Trip to Kenyon Hall Farm
Year 1 pupils enjoyed a fun-filled and educational trip to Kenyon Hall Farm, making the most of the glorious sunshine and fresh countryside air.
Located on 500 acres of beautiful farmland, Kenyon Hall is a working farm known for its wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and crops. The children were warmly welcomed by Helen, a member of the farm team, who introduced them to some of the crops grown on site, including wheat, barley, and oats.
During their visit, the children were given a guided tour of the farm where they saw fields full of fruits and vegetables, many of which will soon be harvested. They also stopped to see some chickens roaming happily in their enclosure, learning about how they are cared for on the farm.
Afterwards, the children got to plant their very own seed to take home, choosing between peas, broad beans, or green beans.
Following their packed lunch, the children had time to enjoy the play park before hopping aboard a tractor ride around the farm. Along the way, they spotted cows and strawberry plants, and even learned about how bumblebees are kept in the farm’s polytunnels to help pollinate the strawberries.
The day was a fantastic mix of learning and play, and the children’s behaviour was brilliant throughout. It was a great outing that brought classroom learning to life in the most hands-on way.
Well done Year 1!
