Wheelchair Rugby League

We welcomed Megan Devine from the Warrington Wolves Disability Project into school, where she introduced our pupils in Years 4 to 6 to the exciting world of Wheelchair Rugby League.

The children had an great time learning about this fast-paced, inclusive sport. They were able to try out the specially adapted sports wheelchairs and take part in fun, energetic games that combined elements of rugby league and basketball. The session was filled with high energy, teamwork, and lots of laughter — it was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to experience something new and inspiring.

Wheelchair Rugby League is an adaptive version of rugby designed for players with physical disabilities, but what makes it truly special is that it’s open to able-bodied players too — making it the most inclusive version of the sport.

We’d like to thank Megan and the team at Warrington Wolves for delivering such an engaging and empowering session.

If your child is interested in taking the sport further, there’s a development session every Tuesday evening from 7–8pm at Cardinal Newman Catholic High School. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and be part of a welcoming, inclusive team.

A huge well done to all our pupils who took part — you were amazing!
