Year 5 Cook Up a Storm in DT
Year 5 pupils rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the role of budding chefs during their Design and Technology (DT) lesson.
As part of their food technology topic, the children worked together to prepare a delicious pasta Bolognese from scratch. The session focused on developing key cooking skills such as chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients, as well as learning about food hygiene and kitchen safety.
The pupils chopped vegetables, stirred sauces, and carefully followed the recipe steps. Not only did they learn valuable life skills, but they also gained a deeper understanding of how meals are prepared—and how much teamwork and effort goes into cooking.
