Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly at St Michael’s All Angels Church

On an emotional morning, we gathered at St Michael’s All Angels Church in Burtonwood to celebrate our Year 6 pupils as they prepare to move on to the next exciting chapter of their lives. The Leavers’ Assembly was a heartfelt occasion, filled with laughter, reflection, and pride.

Parents, carers, and grandparents joined us in the church, along with our Year 5 pupils—who were invited to get a glimpse of what lies ahead for them next year. Reverend Tim warmly welcomed everyone for the special celebration.

The assembly began with an opening song performed by our Year 6 children. Each child then took to the front of the church to share their favourite memories from their time at Burtonwood Primary School, accompanied by their very first school photo—most taken back in Reception. It was a moving moment for all, seeing just how much they have grown and achieved over the years.

Part way through the assembly was the presentation of the Rotary Club Shield, awarded to recognise this year’s Young Achiever. This special award honours a pupil who has truly stood out for their accomplishments, positive attitude and resilience.

Mr Heatley also spoke during the assembly, praising the children for the way they have “shone” throughout their time at Burtonwood. He wished them every success as they transition to high school and encouraged them to return and visit us in the future.

Adding a touch of fun, we shared some embarrassing, but much-loved, photos sent in by proud parents. The children’s reactions were priceless, and the moment brought plenty of smiles and laughter.

As the assembly came to a close, the children performed a touching final song. Emotions ran high, with many parents and children sharing a few tears as the reality of saying goodbye began to sink in.

Reverend Tim then brought the assembly to a close with a thoughtful prayer, sending our Year 6 pupils off with blessings and warm wishes for the future.

We are very proud of each and every one of our Year 6 leavers. Good luck in high school—you will always be part of the Burtonwood family.
