Year 4 Trip to Eureka 2025
Year 4 Trip to Eureka Science and Discovery Centre
On Tuesday 5th November, Year 4 pupils enjoyed a fun and informative day at the Eureka Science and Discovery Centre in Liverpool. The trip offered plenty of opportunities to explore, experiment, and learn more about how science links to everyday life.
The children particularly enjoyed the exhibition areas, where they took part in activities that highlighted the connection between science, technology, engineering, art, and maths (STEAM). Many of the hands-on stations linked directly to their current science topic on digestion, helping them understand how different parts of the digestive system work together and how our bodies use the food we eat. These displays supported pupils in seeing how different subjects combine and influence the world around us.
The main focus of the visit was the From the Chew to the Poo workshop, where pupils explored the different parts of the digestive system and the role each one plays in breaking down food. They learned how the body absorbs the nutrients it needs and how it gets rid of what it doesn’t.
They also looked closely at teeth and their role in the mechanical breakdown of food in the mouth. Using the Eatwell Plate, pupils identified key nutrient groups and the foods they are found in, helping them understand what makes a balanced diet. They also discovered why it’s important to eat fibre-rich foods, drink plenty of water and stay active to help keep the digestive system working well.
The children had a brilliant day. Well done Year 4!
