Year 3 Set Off on Their First Residential Adventure to Delamere Forest

Year 3 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable first residential as they spent two exciting days, and one night away exploring Delamere Forest. For many of the children, it was their first time staying away from home, making the experience even more special.

The adventure began on Tuesday, when after some lunch the group headed straight into the forest to investigate different habitats and wildlife. One of the highlights was discovering a badger set, which sparked lots of curiosity and thoughtful questions. The children also waded through shallow streams, splashed through muddy puddles and took part in a nature walk, embracing the outdoors with huge smiles.

The excitement continued back at the centre, where the children had a lovely dinner. After dinner we had a quiz and some hot chocolate and biscuits! Then the children settled into their dormitories. The bunk beds were a big hit and added to the fun of spending the night away with friends.

On the second day, Year 3 took part in an orienteering challenge, using maps and problem‑solving skills to navigate their way around the site. They showed fantastic determination, co-operation and confidence, demonstrating many of the High Performance Learning values we encourage in school. After a short break we then went pond dipping where the children found so many creatures and even a couple of newts!

Throughout the trip, the children showed excellent behaviour and enthusiasm. They embraced every activity, supported one another and made wonderful memories that they will remember for years to come.

Well done, Year 3!
