Year 2 Science - Measuring

Year 2 Science - Measuring
Year 2 put their scientific skills to the test as they took part in an investigation all about length and measurement. The children explored an interesting question: Does being the oldest mean you are the tallest?
First, the children made predictions and discussed what they thought the answer might be, using their own ideas and experiences to explain their reasoning. Some thought the oldest children would definitely be the tallest, while others weren’t so sure.
They then carefully planned and carried out their investigation by measuring one another and collecting information. They worked brilliantly to observe, compare results and gather evidence. The children used their measuring skills carefully and recorded their findings, making sure they worked as accurately as possible.
As part of the investigation, the children collected data, compared measurements and looked closely for patterns in their results. They discussed whether age affected height and used evidence to support their ideas.
Once all the information had been gathered, Year 2 analysed their findings and discussed what they had discovered. They considered whether their original predictions had been correct and found out that scientific investigations do not always give us the answers we expect.
Year 2 showed excellent teamwork and scientific thinking throughout the lesson. Well done Year 2.
