Reception Explore Materials

This week, Reception have been learning all about different materials, focusing on wood, plastic and metal. The children have enjoyed exploring a variety of objects and discussing what materials they are made from and why certain materials are used for different purposes.

As part of their learning, the children worked hard to sort different objects into groups according to the material they were made from. They also became material detectives, hunting around the classroom to find examples of wood, plastic and metal in their everyday environment.

The children showed fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the activities, using their observation and thinking skills to identify and compare materials. It has been wonderful to see them developing their scientific vocabulary and understanding through hands-on exploration and discussion.
