A trip to Tatton Hall was like a trip back in time for Year One children who visited the estate’s grand mansion as part of their history learning.

The visit to Knutsford was linked to Burtonwood Community Primary School’s history unit ‘homes in the past’ and gave pupils a chance to experience life as a servant. This included polishing cutlery and ornaments, washing the floors, making the beds, preparing the fire and even churning milk to produce butter.

The children also took a tour of the Mansion and asked questions to find out more about life in the past.

The Mansion at Tatton Park was home to the Egerton family from the turn of the 18th century. The furnishings and collections reflect the growing wealth and status of the family at the end of the 18th and during the 19th centuries.
