Science - Transparency

Year 5 pupils have been exploring the fascinating world of material properties, focusing on understanding the HPL value of 'Precision'. This skill was at the forefront as the pupils engaged in a hands-on investigation into transparency, where students demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and teamwork.

In this activity, students used data loggers to measure the light intensity of various materials. They carefully tested each material, logging how much light passed through and noting its behaviour. Through close observation and data collection, they were able to sort materials into three distinct categories: opaque, translucent, and transparent.

Throughout the lesson, students maintained focus, and the experiment not only deepened their understanding of transparency but also highlighted how these properties impact real life applications such as windows and sunglasses.
