HPL in Action Week Beginning 10th March

HPL in Action – Share Your Child’s Learning Journey
We are passionate about developing High Performance Learning (HPL) values in our pupils, both in school and beyond. We would love to see how your child demonstrates these skills and qualities at home, whether through clubs, hobbies, creative projects, problem-solving activities, or even everyday challenges.
This week’s HPL focus is complex and multi-step problem solving—we want to see how our pupils challenge themselves, try new things, and embrace learning with confidence. Whether it’s learning a new sport, performing in front of an audience, or experimenting with a new idea, we’d love to celebrate their achievements.
We invite parents and carers to send in photos and examples of their children demonstrating these values. These could be from sports clubs, music or drama performances, science experiments, artwork, fundraising, or any activity where they show resilience, originality, confidence, or big-picture thinking.
Please send your details, along with a photo to Miss Coupe in school—we can’t wait to share and celebrate their fantastic efforts!
Noah - Year 4
Noah has been multi-step problem solving in a number of different ways. He has done some baking where he had to follow a recipe, he has built a den and had to overcome different problems and think about how to solve them and he has been playing games such as chess.
Nina - Year 4
Nina has been working on 2 problem solving activities at home. She has made great progress in her coding fundamentals course on Code Monkey. She has also started learning Spanish with her family using Duolingo and Nina has been practising every day for a few weeks now.
Amelia - Year 2
Amelia has been using multi-step problem solving by building a den using sticks she has been saving up. She had to think about how she would make them stay stood up and that the structure was stable.
Brahim - Year 2
Brahim had made some chocolate chip cookies by following a recipe. He measured out all the ingredients, made the cookie dough, preheated the oven and set a timer. Brahim broke a large job down into smaller steps.
Theodore - Reception
Theodore has recently took an interest in rock climbing and has quickly learned that to get to the top of tricky walls he has to plan and sometimes change his strategy to achieve it. He doesn’t leave until he’s got to the top.
