Year 2 – Music - Exploring Rhythms

This week in Music, Year 2 have been exploring rhythms inspired by the sounds of safari animals. The children listened carefully and copied short rhythms that represented animals such as elephants, monkeys, lions, giraffes, and hippos.

They used call and response techniques to practise the rhythms and played them on a variety of instruments. The children also thought about dynamics, experimenting with how loud or soft their rhythms could be to match the character of each animal.

The activity encouraged listening skills, co-ordination, and creativity, and the children had lots of fun bringing the sounds of the safari to life through music.
