Year 6 Science - Investigating Shadows
Year 6 Science - Investigating Shadows
Year 6 have been developing their scientific thinking as they explored the question: Does the size of a shadow change as the source of light moves away? The children worked collaboratively, using their High Performance Learning (HPL) skills such as collaboration and deliberate practice to plan and carry out a fair investigation.
Working in pairs, pupils measured how the shadow of an object changed when the light source was moved closer and further away. They discussed predictions, shared ideas and recorded their results carefully, demonstrating teamwork. Throughout the experiment.
The class discovered that shadows become smaller as the light source moves further away, and larger when it moves closer. They were able to explain their findings, using scientific vocabulary such as opaque, light source, and reflection.
Well done Year 6!
