Year 5 Computing - Using Scratch
Year 5 Get Creative with Scratch in Computing Lessons
Year 5 pupils have been diving into the world of coding during their first computing programming lesson with Scratch.
Scratch is a fun and interactive platform that allows children to create their own animations, games, and digital stories by snapping together coding blocks. During this initial lesson, pupils explored the basics of the program, learning how to move characters, add sounds, and experiment with simple commands to bring their ideas to life.
The focus of Lesson 1 was all about tinkering and exploring — encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and logical thinking. Many pupils were excited to experiment with different commands, test out animations, and share their discoveries with classmates.
It’s great to see pupils getting familiar with the world of coding with enthusiasm and confidence, laying the foundations for future digital learning.
Well done Year 5!
