Growing in Reception

This half term, Reception have begun exploring the topic of growing. The children have been learning about different types of seeds and what they need to help them grow strong and healthy. This week, they were excited to handle a variety of seeds and talk about their different shapes and sizes before getting hands-on with some planting.

Working together, the children helped to plant runner bean seeds, spring onion seeds and carrot seeds. They carefully sprinkled soil, tucked the seeds safely inside and then made sure each pot was given a good drink of water. The children enjoyed watching the water soak into the soil and talking about what might happen next.

Over the coming weeks, Reception will be checking on their plants regularly, noticing any changes and learning more about how plants grow. We can’t wait to see the results of their hard work.

Well done Reception!
