After-School Eco Gardening Club Update - June 2026

Eco Garden Success and RHS Level 3 Award
Our Eco Gardening group has been busy over the past few weeks, caring for the garden and learning more about the plants and wildlife that share our outdoor space.
Last week the children worked hard to tidy the garden beds and ensure that our Eco Garden was looking its best. They checked and refilled the water sources for birds and insects, helping to support local wildlife during the warmer weather. The children also spent time identifying a variety of plants growing in the garden, including potatoes, rhubarb, strawberries, sweet peas, lavender, lupins and clematis. As a reward for their hard work, they enjoyed picking some delicious strawberries and gathered sweet peas to take home and enjoy.
This week, with temperatures rising, the group moved their activities to Forest School, where they focused on helping insects and other small creatures stay safe during the hot weather. The children created hanging basket bug hotels using natural materials, providing shelter for a range of minibeasts. They also had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor environment with a few games of hide-and-seek.
We are also delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Level 3 Certificate in the RHS School Gardening Awards. This fantastic achievement recognises the children's growing knowledge of the plants in our Eco Garden and their understanding of how the garden is used to support learning, wildlife and wellbeing across the school.
This award is a reflection of the enthusiasm, dedication and teamwork shown by everyone involved in caring for our Eco Garden. We are incredibly proud of what the children have achieved and look forward to continuing our gardening journey together.
Well done to all of our Eco Gardeners and a huge thank you to Mrs Barber for giving her time to run the club!
